Victor Edgar Rivera Writer / Poet / Art
Dealer |
| I
was born in 1955 in the small town of Mayaguez, which is on the
Western side of the island of Puerto Rico. Since 1961 I have resided
in the state of New Jersey - except for a brief period in 1974,
when I attended college in St. Petersburg, Florida. I have two
degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and an Associate
of Arts in Liberal Arts; I have also extensively studied music,
philosophy, psychology, history, literature, poetry and art. In
the past, I have worked as a professional drummer, a copywriter,
a journalist, a teacher, an account executive and a sales representative.
Currently, and since 1996, I devote my time to writing and representing
independent artists. Three of these artists include: Soraida Martinez,
the artist known for creating Verdadism, a unique form of hard-edge
abstract expressionism in which paintings are juxtaposed with
written social commentaries; Dane Tilghman, one of the premier
illustrators of the African American experience who is known for
his portrayal of Negro League Baseball Greats and African American
Golf Art; and, Reginald K. Gee, a contemporary artist influenced
by the 1980's Neo-Expressionism movement whose
surreal landscapes and humorous treatment of human faces is sought
after by collectors of visionary and self-taught art.
In
2003, I published my first book of poems, entitled: Poetry Y Poesia:
A Book of Poems Inspired by the Art of Verdadism. I am now working
on a book of quotations and two music books (one of brief compositional
motifs for the piano and another of song lyrics for the guitar).
Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding the artists
that I represent; mailto:ERiveraV@aol.com); Phone

my poetry book, where you can read three of my poems.. |
